Young Piano Masters Project

The Young Piano Master Project (YPMP) is designed to encourage and nurture excellence in the art of piano performance among talented young artists under the age of 19.

The project is inspired by the philosophy of Edward Aldwell that theory and analysis are an integral part of the art of the performer. Preeminent artists and scholars of our time, including Maestro Murray Perahia and Prof. Carl Schachter, have contributed to formulating the goals and devising the rich content of the project.

The overall objective of the project is to deepen the musical understanding of young pianists and to expand their horizons in diverse areas. The program endeavors to achieve this by exposing the young pianists to the artistry, knowledge, skill, and insight of the leading performers, scholars, and educators of our age.
