Form Informed is the Edward Aldwell Center’s blog, dedicated both to strictly theoretical matters of musical analysis and to the day-to-day “business” of the EAC, its workshops, lectures, master classes, special programs, symposia, and more. As such, we would like it to become a forum where you can expose your professional views but also comment on your EAC experience as a student, teacher, spectator, or participant in any capacity. Of course, the shape of the discussion will be determined by you, the readers and writers of this blog, by the topics you wish to raise, and the comments you make.
If you follow the EAC’s program of activities you know that we officially “endorse informed musical performance: an approach that complements intuition, expression and temperament, and a general sense of style, with a broad analytical vista that brings to the fore the inner-workings of the musical masterpiece.” The blog, however, is not merely a mouthpiece for EAC doctrine but an open forum that encourages discussion, critique, and the free exchange of ideas.
